At elevations between 1100 and 2400 metres, where perfect snow conditions are virtually guaranteed, 64 lifts and over 300 km of runs give access to the pristine white of slopes covered deep in snow. Long waits at the lifts are almost unknown in the Lungau and Obertauern, even at the height of the season! Immerse yourself - in the splendid Alpine world of the Lungau and Obertauern.

The Frauenalpe is located in the middle of the Murauer mountain region, overlooking the city of Murau, where the nordic World Championships were held. The skiing-area (from 1.500 m to 2.000 m above sea level) can easily be reached by a well built and good driveable mountain road. The visitors can choose between five ski-lifts and several ski-pistes spread out over 36 hectares. The skiing region is often called the "covert love" and is a paradise and insider tip for families. Little guests love the fairy tale area with Snow White and Mickey Mouse. The 8 km long downhill to the city of Murau is the highlight at the end of an exhausting skiing day. To reach the Frauenalpe easier, a shuttle bus is carrying the guests from the city to the ski-resort and back.

Obertauern this is Austria's only purpose-built resort where you can ski to and from the door of most of its modern, chalet-style hotels before sampling the lively après ski in the resort centre. Originally just a mountain pass, Obertauern is high and sits on the edge of the tree-line. The scenic peaks of the Tauern range surround the pass, allowing the lifts to fan out from a central point and create a superb natural circuit which can be skied in either direction. With its excellent snow record, variety of terrain (including excellent off-piste - conditions permitting) and good childcare facilities, this is an ideal choice for families and mixed ability groups. Over 100km of runs and open early November to mid May a great resort to head for when the rest of Austria is closed. About 30 mins drive from Stadl its a high resort so if the weather is good it worth a trip mid season.
